
Ghana Tennis Federation wish to inform the tennis community and the public of the country’s male tennis team, the Golden Rackets participation at the 2023 Davis Cup Africa Group IV Tournament.
The coach, through the Federation and under the leadership of Executive Board Member / Davis Cup Team coordinator, Nana Dr. Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodee, has selected five (5) players to represent Ghana in Rwanda.
The Golden Rackets will be led by Captain Frederick Egyir as coach and made up three US based players, Abraham Asaba, Isaac Nortey, Herman Abban, local number one seed Samuel Agbesi Osei Antwi and 2021 ITF Junior Champion, Desmond Ayaaba.
The Competition starts from the 26th to 29th July 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda at the Ecology Tennis Club. The Federation’s quest to qualify to Africa Group III and progress steadily to Europe/Africa Zone Group I, to equal and better the glorious era of 1990s has been spear-headed by Nana’s dedication, motivation and financial support for the team.
To aid their preparation towards the task ahead, and acclimatize with the surface of the competition, the local players and coach departed from Accra on 21st July 2023 to Kigali and were be joined by the US based players on the same day.
